Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital Chooses New SpectraSoft Scheduling Solution

Software developer SpectraSoft Inc. today announced a contract with Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital (MRH) of Lincoln, Nebraska for the deployment of SpectraSoft’s new enterprise scheduling solution, AppointmentsES, throughout the institution’s 269-bed rehabilitation and two outpatient satellites.

According to MRH Assistant Director of Hospital Applications Roberta Steinhauser, MRH selected SpectraSoft after “an extensive search for an enterprise scheduling system that would meet the needs of our inpatient as well as outpatient therapy and physicians scheduling.”

“We were looking for a package that would be user friendly, easy to train on and easy to use. At the same time, we wanted our next system to be powerful enough and flexible enough to meet the needs of our demanding and unique scheduling environment,” explained Director of Inpatient Therapies Christopher A. Lee. “Securing a scheduling system that allows the ability for data analysis leading to improved customer service was a key selection factor,” said VP of Outpatient Service Mike Fenello.

AppointmentsES is designed to give multi-department healthcare providers the power to schedule appointments from a central scheduling facility and within the departments simultaneously, according to SpectraSoft President Steven L. Petrie. Users in one department can schedule patients for an appointment in real time with a resource in any other department. They can also switch from visual to procedure-based scheduling to set appointments for complex medical procedures. AppointmentsES enhances control by making it possible to pre-define strict medical protocols and to find appropriate resources and appointment slots automatically.

“We believe the power and unique versatility of AppointmentsES makes it well suited to the complex demands of Madonna’s state-of-the-art facility,” said Petrie. AppointmentsES will replace a DOS-based legacy program at MRH, and is scheduled to go live at MRH in May.

AppointmentsES is a client server application introduced in 2002 that is designed to extend enterprise scheduling across all the departments of a full-service hospital.
